Tours of the Arctic Sunrise
The Greenpeace vessel, "Arctic Sunrise," will be docked at Rowes Wharf and offering free tours from February 19th through 26th! Built in Norway in 1975, the icebreaker, originally named "Polarbjorn," was used as a sealing vessel. In 1995 it was charted by the environmental protection organization, Greenpeace, where it was renamed.
Over the past 15 years it has travelled from Antarctica to the Amazon, and even within close proximity of the North Pole in an effort to protect our oceans and wildlife. Don't miss the opportunity to see this amazing ship!

Restaurant Recommendation:
I am going to begin this sector with my all time favorite restaurant in the city, Bricco! Now, to claim this about any restaurant is a bold statement. Especially coming from someone that loves food as much as I do, but it's true. I go often, and am thoroughly impressed each time. Here is why...
Bricco is located in Boston's North End, and specializes in contemporary Italian cuisine. The food is absolutely phenomenal, with an emphasis on presentation as well as taste. They offer an award-winning wine list with a vast selection of fine European and California wines. Bricco has recently been voted one of the Top Ten Restaurants in America by Esquire Magazine, and has received the coveted Wine Spectator Award of Excellence from Spectator Wine Magazine.
What truly makes Bricco unique, though, is the atmosphere. It's warm, trendy, and perfect for everyone from couples, to groups and families. They also offer a lively bar scene and serve brick-oven pizzas from 11:30pm to 2:00am. If you're interested in booking a private function, they have a choice of menus, and private rooms- guaranteed to meet your needs!
But no restaurant could be successful without a magnificent staff. The servers are truly the best in the industry. They're experienced, friendly, and informative. The reservationists are also very helpful in securing the time slot of your choice, on even the most busy of nights. Bricco is always packed with locals and tourists, alike. It has also become somewhat of a celebrity hotspot, with guests including everyone from Kobe Bryant to Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.
Bricco is owned by restauranteur, Frank DePasquale. He is also the owner of Mare, Trattoria Il Panino, Splash, Umbria Prime, Il Gelateria, and Scene Magazine.
My Meal of Choice: Homemade Fucilli Pasta w/ fra diavolo sauce and fresh mozzarella melted on top! mmm!
Keep Bricco in mind for Winter Restaurant Week: MARCH 6-18th
As a side note:
Hello All! So far, the majority of my posts have featured upcoming events and promotions in the Boston area. Because of the specificity of these attractions, I realize that not all entries may be of interest to all readers. Still, in a city that offers such an array of activities, I truly believe it's important to remain in the loop. If a certain concert, or show is not of interest to you, you may pass it along to a friend or family member who may like to attend or learn more about it. However, a Best of Beantown blog would not be complete without local restaurant recommendations and reviews. As a concierge, I am fortunate enough to visit a new restaurant on a weekly basis, and listen to endless feedback from quests. I will include at least one recommendation a week. Since everyone loves food, I'm hoping this will add an element of consistency as well. Enjoy!

Happy Valentines Day!
Hey Fellas,
If you haven't gotten your girl a V-Day gift yet you're in luck! And when I say gift I do not mean flowers. Flowers are more of a gesture. They say "I'm sorry", more than "I love you." Call me snotty, but it's true and I'm sure the majority of women would agree.
Anyway, luckily for you Edible Arangements will be accepting orders until 7pm tonight! They won't deliver, but you can pick them up at a number of locations in the Greater Boston area.
They have affordable arrangements of chocolate covered strawberries (my personal favorite), fruits, candies, and even cookies! For an additional fee you can also include a balloon and teddy bear along with your own personal greeting!
It's a delicious and far less generic way to honor your special lady!
Enjoy <3

Super Sale at the Tannery
As a fashion enthusiast, I am ashamed to say that I have just recently discovered The Tannery. For those of you unfamiliar with this incredible store, they are an active lifestyle retailer with locations in both Boston and Cambridge. The store sells an array of clothing, and outerwear, but they are primarily known for their diverse footwear selection.
I visited the Boylston Street store yesterday with the intention of simply checking it out. Due to it's location, and name brand merchandise, I assumed everything would be well out of my price range. Needless to say, I was thrilled to find Hunter rain boots that are normally $175. for $80!!! They had a variety of styles and colors to choose from, as well.
The only slight drawback is the slightly less than attentive staff. They work on commission, so they'll be quick to greet you when you enter the store. But the second they hand you that first pair of shoes they are no where to be found. For these prices, I'm willing to overlook the less than stellar service.
This is an "end of season" sale, so it will go on until they run out of sizes. My advice is to go as soon as possible, as this is an amazing deal for a classic brand.
Happy shopping!

Groundhog Day...An Early Spring for Bostonians?
It's hard to get excited for spring when there is about three feet of snow on the ground, and we're in the middle of a government issued "state emergency". But rest assured, the end is near. At least according to Punxsutawney Phil (yes, that is his name) who thankfully did not see his shadow this morning. This means that with any luck at all, the snow should be melting and spring should be on it's way in no time. We hope.
Though schools may have been cancelled today, many of us still had to brave the sleet and freezing rain to get to work. This can be particularly trying if you work in and around the city where the traffic (MBTA included) and parking is at it's absolute worst, and the sidewalks, for whatever reason have not been sanded. Trust me, I have already exceeded the amount of times it is acceptable to fall in one season. So believe me, I understand what it's like to literally fall into that 'winter-rut' and want to stay inside as often as possible.
But today, I've decided to follow in the optimism of our little Groundhog and start psyching myself up for the warm weather. And what better way to do that than share with you what is likely to be one of the greatest concerts in Boston history. Get ready for it...on June 14, 2011 The New Kids on the Block and The Backstreet Boys will be performing a reunion concert at none other than our very own Fenway Park!! Word on the street is that our favorite boy bands will be performing new and old material. Seriously, as someone who grew up in the 90's and once owned the NKOTB bed set, this news is nothing short of elating. So ladies, round up your girlfriends- this is sure to be legendary.
Now guys, don't feel left out. Any concert under the Green Monster is sure to be a blast. You'll be at one of the greatest venues of all time. Not only do the Red Sox call Fenway their home field, but it has also played host to the NHL Winter Classic, the Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith, amongst others. If you're single; grab a couple guy friends, a Fenway Frank, and a beer because this concert is sure to be packed with twenty and thirty-something females. And if you've got a girl, what better way to kick off the summer together (and look like the man) than getting her tickets. You don't have to be a die-hard fan--it's more about the experience than anything else.
Pre-Sale tickets are now available for AMEX card holders. The rest of us will have to wait until Saturday (February 5th) to get our tickets. Let the countdown begin!!!
*As a side note - I'd like to add that the only way I could possibly be more excited for this was if NSYNC and 98 degrees were also added to the line-up* ;)
